heard Mr Leon: Caluert say words to this effect. Whereas he
fownd it necessary to maintaine such a charge in defence of
the pro: If his Lps estate in the pro: could not defray the charge
his owne should; & if tht would not he would engage his Lps.

Willm Whitle deposeth in open Assembly That he heard Mr
Caluert say tht his Lps Estate and his own Estate should goe
towards the paymt of the Soldiers, and if tht were not suffi-
cient he would engage the prouince. And in prticular he the
sd Mr Caluert agreed wth the Soldiers to take Cowes wth calfe
or calues by their sides at the rate of 600l Tob: and heighfers in
calfe or calues by their side at 500l Tob: towards their wages.
