May 11th 1693
Since the writing & before closing of the former Mr Luff
our Sheriff of Somerset County is returned from your parts
& hath this Day given us an Accot of his application made to
your Excellency concerning Mr Randolph Feloniously broke
prison & escaped from his Custody, whereby we are encour-
aged to Beleive your Excellency will at our reasonable request
deliver him up to this Govt to be proceeded against according
to Law in Confidence & full Assurance whereof we send the
Bearer Charles Nicholson together with the said Luff to wait
on your Excellency & to receive your commands to that pur-
pose to whom we pray your Excellency to give all faith &
credit as Coming from
Your Excellencys most humble Servts

Read & signed by his Excellency the Govr & Council the
following Letter to the Govr of New York ordered yesterday
to be writ (vizt)

May it please your Excellency
Yours of the 3d of April last with Copy of the Queens
Letter of the 11th day of October Inclosed hath been laid
before us the Contents of both we have duly & maturely Con-
sidered & in Obedience to her Majestys Commands as well
as our own inclinations to serve your Excllcy & their Majestys
Subjects of your Govt against the Common Enemy we have
Concluded on Contributing to your aid & assistance the Sum

of three hundred Pounds Sterl our Quota proportionable to
our Neighbours of Virginia who are double the Number &
upwards of Taxables with us Bills for which will be remitted,
& your Excellency may expect by the honble Collo Hamilton
upon his return to his Govt & we hope it with what you may
receive from other parts will have good Effect to the Security
& Safeguard of yours & all others their Majestys Neighbour-
ing Collonies & Plantations we are
