quehannoh Indians their pfessed Enemies have sollicited his
Lspp for leave to remoove (for their better security) from the
ffort where they now live either to Mattawoman, Choptico, or
Zachaia, His Lspp and his Councill (haveing taken the same
into their serious Consideration, & willing to gratifie the
request of the said Indians) Doe say and Declare and it is
hereby ordred:
That the said Pascattoway Indians have free leave and
liberty with their Wives and Children for the prsent to
remoove to Zachaia and there to seate themselves undr such
ffortifications as they shall think fitt to Erect for their Safe
guard and Defence untill such time as his Lspp can have an
oportunity to treate with the said Senniquo Indians and with
them compose some tearmes of Agreemt and Conclude a firm
peace as well for the said Pascattoways as all other Indiang
in league and Amity with him, thereby to remoove from them
all further feares or apprehensions of Dangers. And Capt

Yours of yesterday p James Smallwood I recd: and have
Consulted the Councill about the request of the Pascattoway
Indians to remoove either to Mattawoman, Choptico or
Zachaiah wch last mentioned place We have thought fitt to
pitch upon as the most proper at this time, and therefore
Inclosed send you the result of the Councill to that purpose,
wch you are to communicate to them with all expedition, I
would have you endeavor to gett a sight of the Articles made
with those Indians now in their custody, and take due cog-
nizance of every pticular Article soe as to rendr me an Exact
Acc( of their Contents, and also learne from them if possibly
you cann whither they have since recd: any Addition or con-
firmation of them, and (if soe) that you alsoe endeavor to gett
a sight of them, and signifie your pceedings herein with all
convenient speed to Yor Lo: ffriend

You are to advise the Indians that if they leave their old
ffort it will be but discretion in them to Demolish it and not
suffer it to stand for the Enemy to Enter.
