This Petition is recommended to the consideration of the
Justices of the Provll Court now in Court sitting, who are
desired to take such ordr for the releife of the Petr as to them
shall seeme meete & according to Law

March 1683 complaineing agt the sheriffes of Kent and Balte-
more County for non payment of the publick dues Anno 1681:
and 1682: should have been here entred but p mistake is

is read as foll.

To the Rt honble Charles absolute Lord and Propry of the
Provinces of Maryld & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &ca
The humble Petition of Coll Wm Burges
That whereas one Robert ffrancklyn now deed: was in his
life tyme constituted and appointed by your Ldsp high Sheriff
of Anne Arrundll County; for the due Execution of whose
Office, your Petr became bound with the said ffrancklyn
to yr Ldspp in the penalty of a very greate summe of
Tobacco, And whereas the said ffrancklyn as high Sheriff
aforesaid, was chargeable with the Rents leavyes and
other publick Dutyes payable as well to yr Ldsp as to sev-
erall of your Ldspp good people of this Province for the collect-
ing of which the said Sheriff by the good Lawes of this Prov-
ince had power to leavy the same by way of Execution. But
