By the House of Delegates May 9th 1700.

Whereas It was proposed by the Comittee of Accts that
since his Exncy hath been so favourably pleased to disband dis-
charge and take of Tenn Rangers from the Garrison or Forte
the Charge of which would have amounted to by modest
Computation 500l Sterl: for other Special Services in lessning
many former Charges, and comeing into this Province in a
tyme of very great scarcity was put to very great Difficultys
and yet never reflected on the Province, And being very
sencible that his Exncy hath not since the last Assembly Sub-
jected us to any unnecessary Charge;
Therefore they make this proposal that a Gratuity of two
hundred pounds sterl be given to his Maty for the Use of his
Exncy at laying the Levy if this house concurr therewith
To which the house did concurr.

Whereas the Bounds of the land formerly granted unto Abab-
coe, Hardswomp & Tilkwason by Act of Assembly was never run
out & Ascertained, by Means whereof, sevrall Differences had

arisen between the said Indians & the English touching the
same, It is therefore Ordered that Lt Colonel Thomas En-
nals the King's Surveyor of Dorchester County doe resurvey
the said Lands according to the meets & bounds set downe in
the said Act and that Le Colonel Thomas Smithson of Talbott
County Colonel Charles Hutchins, Major Jacob Lockerman
Mr Thomas Hicks & Mr William Misshew of Dorchester
County are hereby appointed & impowered to assist and direct
the sd Surveyor in the running out of the same, & that noe
Prson presume to settle or live on the said Land so run out
without it be by the Genll Consent of the said Indians, and
that the same be done with all convenient Speed and a faire
Certificate & Plat of the same returne to the next Sessions of
Assembly

Ordered that if Major Edward Dorsey at or before the next
