sion you represent is liable to the Action of the Parties op-
pressed for it's plain by the aforesaid Authority folio 147 the
Sheriff must either appraise the Goods before he sell them
or enquire of their Value by a Jury. All which we think is
sufficient to remedy the ill Practice complained of without
compelling the Creditor against his Will to take the Goods
and Chattels levyed by the Sheriff at any ignorant or unrea-
sonable Appraisment which the Wisdom of the Kingdom of
England never thought meet not but that the Practice is he
may accept them if he thinks fit. And such Acceptance will
discharge the Sheriff Wherefore we cannot see any Necessity
for the Bill proposed and therefore reject it

In Answer to your Message by Captain Jones and Mr
Ennalls of the sixth Instant relating to the Naval Office and
Papers therein desired to be lodged in the Council Office we
cannot be assured that the same Person (tho' now it is so)
will always hold both Offices so that it may be unfit the Naval
Officer should have Recourse to the Council Office but are
rather induced that the Office appointed for the Town Court
be allotted to the Clerk of your House and that the Assem-
bly Office should be to the Town Clerk of the City of An-
napolis in Lieu thereof and desire you will send a Member or
two from your House with these Gentlemen from our Board
to view the said Offices and concert that Matter

Upon reading this Message the House concur therewith
and Mr James Lloyd and Mr Daniel Mariartee ordered to
attend the Gentlemen of her Majesty's Honble Council to
view the Offices. The said Gentlemen report they have
viewed the Offices and find that the Town Office is very con-
venient but wants furnishing with Tables, Desks, &ta Re-
solved That the Town Office be now appointed for the Clerk
of this House and that the same be fitted up as the Council
