lows Viz.

houses of Assembly of Maryland.

We take ourselves to Lye under the Deepest sense of Grati-
tude for your L^dships most Acceptable Speech Transmitted
to us this Sessions which we shall duly regard.

Your Lordships Reasons for regulacon of the Act Entituled
An Act Ascertaining the Bounds of Land are too Agreeable
to the Experience we have had of that Law to fail of a perfect
Conviction of the necessity of itt but the Law is of so great
Importance that it requires the Most mature Deliberation to
Concert the proper Alterations And therefore we begg leave
to defer such Amendments till the next Sessions when we
Doubt not but all due regard will be paid to your Lordships
favourable Inclinations
We think ourselves Obliged as near as may be to follow the
Example of Great Brittaine in all our Parliamentary pceed-
ings And Acknowledge your Lordships great favour in ap-
prizeing us with the practice thereof in respect to private Acts
but with all defference to that happy Constitution and Sub-
mission to your Lordship's observation thereon we are forced
to Acknowledge that the Infancy of our Country does not as
yet Admitt of such an Extensive Administration in the Ordi-
nary Courts of Justice here, but that in some p articular &
Extraordinary Cases the Assistance of the Legislature may
be Absolutely necessary to Supply the defects thereof.
We shall have a due Regard to your Lord^ps Sentiments re-
lateing to the Act for Officers Fees being fully Satisfied of
the necessity of Supporting Officers Agreeable to their Sev^ll
Stations but shall begg your Lordship to permitt us to Deferr
that Consideration Likewise to Another Sessions
An Engrost Bill for reviveing the Act ascertaining the
Gauge and Tare of Tob^o hh^ds untill the Twenty ninth day of

Septem^r Seventeen hundred & Twenty one, on his Excy the
Gov^r his recomendation had past both houses of Assembly
before the Receipt of your Lordship's Speech which we hope
will be accepted as a Complyance with your Lordships Com-
ands in respect to that Law 'till a further Opportunity and the
