By the Upper House of Assembly 4th June 1730

Gentlemen
Mr Denton having Acquainted this House that there has been
some Corruption committed by an Under Clerk of his during his
Writing in the Commissary and Secretarys Offices and there may
be an Inspection made into the State of them this House hath nom-
inated John Rousby and Benjamin Tasker Esqr and desire that you'll
appoint some Members of Your House to Join them in order for such
Inspection

Twenty four Thousand pounds in Bills of Credit and Ordered to lye
on the Table

A Bill from the Lower House by Collo Greenfield and Eleven more
Entituled An Act for Improving the Staple of Tobacco & for con-
tinuing part of an Act Ascertaining the Gauge and Tare of Tobacco
hogsheads and to prevent cropping cutting and defacing Tobacco
taken on board Ships or Vessels upon ffreight and for laying Impo-
sitions on Tobacco by the Hogshead for the Support of Government
and for the Encouraging Settlements in this Province by Ascer-
taining the manner of paying his Lordships Alienation fines and quit
Rents for the Term therein proposed and for the taking off the three
pence p Hogshead formerly raised for the Publick Charge thus
Endorsed

Read the first time and Ordered to lye on the Table
