nition for its Necessary Defence nor but that the present Alarms and

Apprehensions of a War strengthen the reasons for such a Fund at
this Juncture; and therefore we are Determined to Consider in the
best Manner we are able the Means of Making a Suitable provision
for that end.
Your past Conduct has Sufficiently Evinced your regard for the
Honour and Prosperity of this Province and the handsom Manner
that you are Pleased in the Close of your Speech to Represent that
Disposition of Mind and Unannimity which are Necessary to pro-
mote the Dispatch of Business and the lessening the publick Charge,
is a further Testimony of the Continuance of that Benevolence which
you have shewn in the whole Course of Your Administration And
it must be agreed by all mankind that Dispatching the Publick
Business and lessening the publick Expenses is an Essential part of
the Duty of a faithful and Honest Representative of the People.
Which Address was Approved and Ordered to be Ingrossed.
Edmund Jenings Esq^r from the Upper House Delivers the Peti-
tion of Peter Harrant of Charles County read and recommended to
this House which was Read here and Granted.
And the Petition of Sundry Inhabitants of Somerset County
referred here, which was referred by this House for further Con-
sideration

The House Met according to Adjournment. The Members were
called over, All present as yesterday the Proceedings of yesterday
were read Over.
M^r Dulany brings in the Address to his Excellency Ingrossed.
M^r Dulany and Col Belt sent to Acquaint his Excellency this
House hath prepared an Address to him and to know when & where
he will Receive the Same.
They return and acquaint M^r Speaker the Governour will be ready
Imediately to receive the Address in the Conferrance Chamber.
A Petition of William Cromwell praying Leave to Cut of the En-
tail of a Tract of Land called Bear Neck and to Entail other Lands
in Leiu. Read and Granted on proving the Allegations contained
in the said Petition at the Bar of this House.
