sent on Board the Flag in such Manner as you may think proper
to direct.

By the Act for the Defence of the Bay a Troop of Horse is directed
to be raised for the Protection of the Inhabitants of Worcester and
Somerset Counties to consist of one Captain Lieutenant and Cornet
and twenty four Dragoons. We have appointed you to the Command
of the Troops and request your immediate Attendance; should you not
accept of the Command You'll inform us thereof immediately.
Erasmus Gannt is appointed Cornet.

By the Act for the Defence of the Bay a Troop of Horse is directed

the Command of the Troops and you are appointed Cornet. We

By the Act for the Defence of the Bay one Company of Infantry
to consist of one Capt. Lieutenant and Ensign and thirty non-com-
missioned Officers and Privates are directed to be immediately raised
to serve within this State for one year. We have appointed you to the
Command of the Infantry and request your immediate Attendance
should you not accept of the Appointment you'll let us know im-
mediately.

By the Act for the Defence of the Bay a Company of Artillery to
consist of one Captain and one Capt Lieutenant and sixty five non-
commissioned Officers and Matrosses is directed to be immediately
raised to serve within the State for three years unless sooner dis-
charged; the Company will be Stationed at Drum Point at the Mouth
of the River Patuxent, where a Fort of not less than ten nine
Pounders with one or two block Houses are to be erected and built
with all convenient Speed. We have appointed you to the Command
of the Company and request your immediate Attendance; should you
not accept of the Appointment you will let us know immediately.
