[Council to President of the Special Council.]

We have purchased a Barge of John Done and others of Somerset
County now lying at Salisbury, and have requested Col. George

Dashiel to send her here manned with Militia and to put on Board a
Quantity of Pork for the use of the Troops at this Place, but as
those Militia must return and there possibly may be some Danger, we
shall be much obliged to you to give Orders to Capt Whalley to con-
voy the Barge to this Place and take down the Men it is probable that
Col. Dashiel may get more Pork than this one Barge will conveniently
bring, if so, we hope Capt Whalley will take it in.

Thomas Wise draughted from the twenty fourth Class was applied
to this Board for a Discharge alledging that he is under the Age of
Sixteen, and therefore not a proper Draft, we shall be obliged to you
to enquire into the Truth and inform the Board his Mother has made
Oath that he will not be of Age until April.

You will be so obliging as to take Care of five Horses, which will
be delivered you by Edward Kerrick who came up with the Cattle for
the Troops, he will take them away in the Morning.

We have yours of yesterday by Mr Scott who has delivered the
Cattle from the extraordinary Delay of furnishing Provision and
the Distresses of the Troops we have been under the Necessity oi
being positive with the several Commissaries who had Directions tc
supply flesh Provisions, we request you will lose no Time in sending
forward the residue of the one hundred Head of Cattle collected ir
your County.

We have yours of the 20th Instant by Mr Kerrick, who has de-
livered the Cattle, you will forward the residue heretofore orderec
without Delay. We send you by this opportunity sixty Pounds
