To his Excellency Horatio Sharpe Esq.^r Governor and Commander
in Chief in and over the Province of Maryland.

The Humble Address of the House of Delegates.
May it please your Excellency

We his Majesty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects the Delegates
of the Freemen of the Province of Maryland, in Assembly convened,
return your Excellency our unfeigned thanks for your Speech at the
Opening of this Session. We most heartily and Sincerely Rejoice
with your Excellency, on the late glorious Peace, which the Wisdom
of his Majesty's Councils, Seconded by the Vigorous Efforts of his
Arms, has restored to his Subjects, on terms so highly beneficial to
his Dominions in General, and so particularly calculated to advance
the Security and prosperity of the British Colonies in North America:

and we beg leave to return your Excellency our most cordial Con-
gratulations on the Auspicious Birth of a Prince of Wales, from
which happy Event we from the pleasing Expectations, that our
Posterity will enjoy the innumerable Blessings, which we, & all our
fellow Subjects, at present derive from the propitious Reign of the
best of Sovereigns

The Several matters which your Excellency has thought fit to
recommend to our Attention, we shall take into our most Serious
Consideration and enter into such Resolutions thereon as may be
agreeable to Justice, and Conducive to the Interest of our Con-
stituents

We are firmly persuaded, that Union and Harmony are Essentially
necessary to effectuate the good purposes of all Public Consultations,
& your Excellency may be assured we met at this time, as we ever
have done, with a determined Resolution to avoid every measure that
may tend to interrupt the good understanding, and mutual Confi-
dence which alone can render our meetings of real Benefit and Utility
to our Country
