was read the second Time and on the Question put the said Petition
was rejected

On Reading the second Time the Report made by the Committee
appointed to examine the Allegations and Facts contained in the
petition of Ann Ogle Benjamin Tasker and John Hammond
And the petition being again read On Consideration thereof the
same is granted and Leave given to bring in a Bill according to
prayer
Mess.rs Murdock Tilghman and Ringgold deliver to Mr Speaker
their Accounts of Expences to New York and the Business by them
transacted there as a Committee appointed by this House to meet
Committees from the other Colonys in North America And also a
Copy of the Letter sent by them to Charles Garth Esq.r with the
Address to his Majesty and the Memorial and Petition to the Lords
and Commons in the British Parliament
The House taking into Consideration the said Account and Letter
and all other the Proceedings of the said Committee do unanimously
approve of the same and do resolve that the Thanks of this House
be delivered by Mr Speaker to the said W.m Murdock Edward Tilgh-
man and Thomas Ringgold Esq.rs in their places for their Conduct
in the Execution of the Trust reposed in them by this House at the
late Congress at New York
In pursuance thereof M.r Speaker delivered the Thanks of the
House in the following Manner
M.r Murdock Col.o Tilghman and M.r Ringgold
Gentlemen

The House have perused and fully considered the whole Proceed-
ings of the Congress lately held at New York which you have laid
before them and as a Testimony that they highly approve of the
Manner in which you have executed the Great Trust reposed in you
in every Respect they have unanimously resolved that the Thanks
of this House should be given you And it is with great pleasure I
now do it as I am sensible that Conduct that has given such Satis-
faction to the Members of this House will merit the Approbation
of all the Well Wishers of this Country when the whole Affair shall
at a proper Season be communicated to them
To which the Gentlemen made the following Answer
Mr Speaker

Our Conduct in the Execution of the Trust reposed in us having
met the unanimous Approbation of this Honourable House which
we have had the Pleasure of receiving from you Sir Nothing is
wanting to compleat our Wishes upon this Interesting Occasion but
that we may be found to have been in any Degree Instrumental in
promoting the true Interests of Great Britain and her Colonies in
North America
