lative Capacity together with the other part of the Legislature have
the Sole Right to lay Taxes and Impositions on the Inhabitants of
this Province or their Property and effects And that the laying
imposing levying or Collecting any Tax on or from the Inhabitants
of Maryland under Colour of any other Authority is Unconstitutional
and a Direct Violation of the Rights of the Freemen of this
Province

Which was Read the first time and Ordered to lye on the Table

Col :o Henry from the Upper House delivers to M.r Speaker the
Ordinance Subscribed this 27:th September 1765

Read and Assented to by the Upper House of Assembly
Signed by Order Benj:a Tasker Presid:t

The House Adjourns till the Morrow Morning at 8 of the Clock

The Report of the Resolves brought in Yesterday afternoon by
William Murdock Esq:r from the Committee Appointed was read
the 2.d and 3.d time And the House Unanimously concurs therewith
And Ordered that they be Ingrossed
On Motion M:r Young Parran M:r Smallwood M.r Lecompte and
M.r Winder have leave of Absence

The House Adjourns till two of the Clock

Post Meridiem

the House met &c:a
M.r Murdock bring in and Delivers to M :r Speaker the following
Ingrossed Resolves Viz:t
1:st Resolved Unanimously that the first Adventurers and Setters
of this Province of Maryland brought [These resolves are printed
in full in yesterday's proceedings, Sept. 27.th pp. 30-32]

On Motion Ordered that M:r James Hollyday M.r Hammond and
M.r Johnson do prepare and bring in a Bill to continue all such Acts
of Assembly of this Province as wou'd expire with this Session of
Assembly
James Hollyday Esq:r brings in and delivers to M:r Speaker a
Bill Entituled and Act to Continue all such Acts of Assembly of this
Province as would Expire with this Session of Assembly which
was read the first and Second time by an especial Order and will
pass and was sent to the Upper House by M:r Sulivane and M:r
Mackall
