Your petitioner humbly prays that your excellency would be
pleased to recommend this matter to the further consideration of
the house, as your petitioner is now ready to give the house all
the information in his power, with respect to this matter; and which
he humbly conceives, will be satisfactory. And your petitioner will
pray,

Which are read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

M.r Bordley brings in and delivers to M.r speaker a bill entitled
an act for the better regulating the office of sheriff, and further
advancement of justice within this province: Which is read the
first time and ordered to lie on the table. The house adjourns 'til
2. o'clock

Post meridiem. The house met according to adjournment. M.r
Griffith has leave of absence 'til Thursday next. Resolved that no
new business be moved for after Saturday next

The order of the day being read, the house postpones the con-
sideration of that part of his excellencys speech, respecting the
variation of the compass, til to morrow.

Captain Ogdens petition read the second time.

M.r Joseph Chapline, a delegate returned for Frederick County;
appeared in the house.

Ordered that M.r Cresap, and M.r Luckett do go with the gentle-
man to the upper house to see him qualified. They return and
acquaint M.r speaker, they saw him qualified in the usual manner.
The gentleman took his seat in the house

M.r Levin Gale, and M.r Samuel Wilson, delegates returned
for Somerset County; appeared in the house. Ordered that M.r
Hayward and M.r T. Dashiel do go with the gentleman to the
upper house to see them qualified. They return and acquaint M.r
speaker, they saw them qualified in the usual manner. The gentle-
men took their seats in the house.
On taking into consideration the subject matter of the governors
message of this day, and of Captain Ogdens petition, Ordered that
M.r Johnson, M.r Ringgold, M.r Allen, M.r Jennings and M.r Hall, do
prepare and bring in a bill for granting to the Nanticoke indians, a
compensation for the lands therein mentioned.

The bill entitled an act to remedy the inconveniencies arising from
the loss of some of the proceedings in saint Marys County court:
Read the second time and will pass. Sent to the upper house, by
M.r Wolstenholme and M.r Eden.
M.r Johnson brings in and delivers to M.r speaker the following
address.
