Friday June 17.th
The house met according to adjournment. The members were
called and all appeared as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday
were read. M.r Key appeared in the house.
M.r Hall brings in and delivers to M.r speaker, a bill entitled an
act for the speedy and effectual publication of the laws of this
province; and for the encouragement of Ann Catharine Green of the
city of Annapolis printer. Which is read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.
The ingross'd bill entitled an act for the relief of Joseph Scott of
Worcester County; read and assented to and sent to the upper house,
with the paper bill thereof, by M.r Allen and M.r Selbey
The bill entitled an act for amending and declaring the law in the
cases therein mentioned, read the second time and will pass. Sent to
the upper house by M.r Hall and M.r Gale
On motion, the question was put, Whether M.r Thomas Jennings,
a member of this house, have leave to attend the upper house as
council, on hearing of a petition against a bill which hath past this
house, entitled an act for erecting a court house and public prison
for Baltimore County, in the town of Baltimore, and for making
sale of the old court house and prison: Which bill was founded on a
petition of many of the inhabitants of Baltimore County; read in,
and referred to the consideration of this house, by the upper house,
and for the passage of which bill, the said Thomas Jennings had
given his vote in this house? Resolved in the negative.
