By the Lower House of Assembly 9:th November 1770.
May it please your Honours
We agree with you in Opinion that the Tranquility and Welfare
of the Province depend very much upon a Regulation of our Staple
of Tobacco, and the Fees of the Officers, under that Idea we with
great Care revised our late Inspection Law; and were governed by
Principles of Justice and Public Utility, But as your Honours think
the Bill now before you on that subject very exceptionable, in many
Respects, we request you to point out the Amendments you have to
propose, that we may have them before us in one view, and then
we shall with pleasure agree to a Conference if we judge it expedient.
Signed by Order. John Duckett Cl. Lo. Ho.
