Saturday 14th. September 1793

The Council met.

Present as on Thursday.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to William Gilmour Thirty pounds on
Account.

On considering the Petition of Barnet W. Barber of Saint Marys County, praying to be
released from two fines of ten pounds each, imposed on him by the County Court of said
County at August term 1792, for assaulting and beating William Swann on the main road,
and for destroying a note of hand which was the evidence of a debt due from him to the
said William Swann, the same was rejected.

[p. 267] In Council September 14th 1793

William Templeman of Ann Arundel County by his Petition sets forth, that at the last
Ann Arundel County Court he was fined six hundred pounds of Tobacco for selling liquor
contrary to Law, that from Age and infirmity he is reduced to such poor and indigent
Circumstances it is with the utmost difficulty he can procure himself the common necessaries
of life, and that in this situation and through necessity he sold the said liquor and prays a
remission of the said fine, and promises not to violate the law in future, and it appearing by a
Certificate of the Clerk of the said Court that the fine was imposed at April term last, the
Board in consideration of his indigent Circumstances and the recommendation of two of the
Associate Justices of the said Court do order that the said fine of six hundred pounds of
Tobacco be remitted upon all Costs being paid.

Balthazard Bouyer and Pierre Monpoey formerly subjects of France appeared before
the Board, and voluntarily made repeated and subscribed a declaration of their belief in the
Christian relegion [sic], and also took repeated and subscribed the Oath prescribed by the
"Act for Naturalization," wherefore they are now become subjects of this State.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John Kilty Esquire Thirty seven
pounds, ten shillings for one quarter's Salary as a Member of the Council due the 1st
August last,

That the said Treasurer pay to John Shaw Fifty pounds for the purchase of Wood
for the public on Account.
