Power to
found and
maintain
schools,
establish
scholarships,
etc.

May acquire
by gift or
purchase,
land and
property.

5. The said Morgan College shall have the power to found,
establish and maintain a school or schools of education, learn-
ing and training, establish and maintain scholarships, pro-
fessorships, lectureships, chairs of instruction and auxiliary
schools, and to have, hold and acquire by gift, grant, purchase,
devise or any other mode land and property, both real and
personal, for the purpose of supporting such schools, scholar-
ships, professorships, lectureships and chairs, and for the
purpose of investing the funds of said corporation and carrying
on its work and plans.

6. The Board of Trustees of Morgan College shall consist
of twenty-four members, each of whose term of office shall be
four years, which members shall be divided into four classes
or groups of six members each, one of which classes shall
retire each year at the time of the annual meeting, to be held
in the month of June.

7. John F. Goucher, Charles W. Slagle, A. Lincoln Dry-
den, Robert Poole, Nathaniel M. Carroll, Luther B. Wilson,
David H. Carroll, Henry A. Monroe, John H. Nutter, Charles
W. Baldwin, James E. Ingram, Charles H. Evans, Summer-
field Baldwin, Charles G. Key, William T. Hooper, S. T.
Houston, John R. Keene, Alcseus Hooper, Benjamin F. Ben-
nett, Thomas Ireland Elliott, John K. Shaw, George Simms,
T. Snowden Thomas and Charles D. Fenhagen are hereby
recognized, continued and constituted as the Board of Trus-
tees of "Morgan College," of whom the first six shall retire
from said board in the year 1900, the second six shall retire
in the year 1901; the third six shall retire in the year 1902,
and the fourth six six shall retire in the year 1903; provided,
however, that each and all of the present members of said
Board of Trustees, and each and all of their successors, shall
be eligible to re-election upon said board.

8. All vacancies in the membership of the Board of Trustees.
of Morgan College, howsoever the same may occur, shall be
filled by the board, with the approval of the Bishop or
Bishops, who may, for the time being, be the Presiding
Bishop or Bishops over the Washington and Delaware Confer-
ences of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which approval
shall be in writing, and be recorded among the minutes of said
board, and no election of said board of trustees to fill a
vacancy or vacancies in its membership shall take effect unless
and until such approval shall be so had and recorded.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts
inconsistent herewith be and they are hereby repealed, and
that this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.
