OCTOBER 19, 1967—2:00 P.M.
PRESIDENT H. VERNON ENEY,
PRESIDING
THE PRESIDENT: The Sergeant-at-

The Convention will please come to order.
The invocation today will be offered by
the Reverend Edward Reter, Howard Park

REVEREND RETER: In quietness, Oh,
God, we compose ourselves before we take
up the duties awaiting us now. Clarify
our vision and deepen our understanding
that we may honorably and faithfully ful-
fill the responsibilities vested in us. Keep
us mindful, Oh, God, that by our judicious
planning today, tomorrow will be less bur-
dened by apprehension, needless sacrifice,
and unnecessary waste. Knowing that fu-
ture generations will inherit the fruits of
our labor, set us anew at our task today
with judgment unimpaired, zeal and ambi-
tion unfaltering, thus proving worthy of
our good heritage.
Save the State, Oh, God, from the ty-
ranny of misused freedom, from chaos
born of contempt of law; from apathy and
lethargy; from an unconcerned citizenry.
Make haste to deliver us from ill-conceived
