agree as aforesaid, a sum of money not exceeding fifty dollars, for the cloathing, support and maintenance,
of the said negro Daniel.

    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised and required
to pay to the adjutant-general of this state for the time being the sum of five hundred and thirty-three
dollars and one third of a dollar, and no more, in quarterly payments, as his salary for the
year seventeen hundred and ninety-seven, provided the said adjutant-general reside at, or keep an
office at, the seat of government.

    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to Mary Sherburn the amount of depreciation
due Charles Sherburn for twelve months service as a soldier in the first Maryland regiment,
the amount of the same to be ascertained by the auditor.

    RESOLVED, That Samuel Chase, Esquire, agent for recovery of the bank stock in England
due to this state, be requested, and he is hereby requested and desired, to lay before the next general
assembly, in writing, early in the session, the instructions by him given to the solicitors and agents
employed for the recovery thereof, and also to communicate to the assembly,  in writing; such information
as he may receive from such person or persons relative to the same; and that he also lay before
it a statement of the suit or suits now depending in the court of chancery in England, with the parties
thereto, and such further process therein as may be instituted or commenced before the next
session.

    RESOLVED, That Richard Alexander Contee be and he is hereby released from all claim the state
of Maryland may have for the deficiency in the purchase money of the lot of land in Baltimore-town,
late the property of Robert and James Christie, purchased by him from the agent of the state, amounting
to the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds current money.

    RESOLVED, That Walter Bowie, Levi Gantt, Benjamin Lowndes and Thomas Duckett, of
Prince-George's county, and William Harwood and Edward Hall, of Edward, of Anne-Arundel
county, and Charles Wallace and James Williams, of the city of Annapolis, be and they, or any four
of them, are hereby authorised and empowered to examine the situation of the country between the city
of Washington and the city of Annapolis, and ascertain and determine the direction and position of the
nearest, most convenient and practicable road, that can be laid off between the said places, and report
the same, with a plot thereof, to the next general assembly.
    RESOLVED, That each of the said persons, for every day he shall attend in ascertaining the direction
and position of the said road, shall be allowed the sum of two dollars; and the respective levy courts of
the counties of Prince-George's and Anne-Arundel are hereby authorised and empowered to levy a sum 
of money on their respective counties, not exceeding one hundred and fifty dollars, for the purpose of
paying said persons.

    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay unto the chancellor and the judges of the
general court two hundred dollars each, in addition to their salaries allowed by law for the ensuing
year.

    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to Ninian Pinkney the sum of thirty
dollars, as a compensation for a copy of Messieurs Lyons argument relative to the bank stock of this
state, now pending in the chancery court of England, made out by said Pinkney for the use of the
senate, it not being a part of his duty as clerk of the council.

    RESOLVED, That the sum of twenty thousand dollars be advanced out of the treasury of the
western shore to the agent of this state, to be by him applied in the purchase of six per cent. stock
for the use of this state, and that the treasurer advance the same, or such part thereof as the governor
and council shall from time to time require, in writing, to be advanced.
    And, whereas there may remain a considerable sum of unappropriated money in the treasury of the
western shore, after an honourable discharge of all our engagements; therefore, RESOLVED, That 
from and after the first day of July next, the treasurer of the western shore advance to the agent of this
state all such sum or sums of money, not exceeding twenty thousand dollars, as shall remain unappropriated
in the treasury, or so much thereof as the governor and council shall from time to time think
proper and require, in writing, to be advanced, to be by him laid out in the purchase of six per cent.
stock for the use of this state; and the said agent to be allowed a commission, not exceeding one per
cent. and provided, that such draught or draughts shall never diminish the actual unappropriated
money in the treasury below thirty thousand dollars.

    WHEREAS the committee of claims have omitted making the usual allowance to the reverend Mr.
Higinbothom, RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to the reverend Ralph Higinbothom
the sum of fifty dollars, for performing divine service during this session.

    WHEREAS the late destructive fire at Savannah, in Georgia, has reduced many of its unfortunate
inhabitants to a situation of extreme poverty and misery, the more so in consequence of the inclemency
of the season:  And whereas every dictate of humanity should prompt us to the assistance of our distressed
fellow-citizens; therefore, RESOLVED, That the governor of this state inform the executive of the
state of Georgia of our resolution to advance the suffering inhabitants of Savannah the sum of two
thousand dollars.
    RESOLVED, That the governor be and he is hereby authorised and empowered to draw on the treasurer
of the western shore the sum of two thousand dollars, for the relief of the suffering inhabitants of
the town of Savannah, and remit the same, in such manner as he shall judge most for their benefit.
