JOINT RESOLUTION.
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Representatives of this State in the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States, be requested to use
their efforts in such manner as they shall deem most effective
to bring to the attention of the proper authorities at Wash-
ington, the national importance of the Harbor of Baltimore
in connection with our Naval Marine and the future safety
and protection of the Capital of the Union as illustrated and
established by the statistics of the late rebellion, and to use
all proper efforts to procure such aid from Congress as shall
ensure at an early day an unobstructed ship channel from
said Harbor for vessels of the heaviest tonnage, and that the
President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of
Delegates in transmitting the action of this body to our
Senators, and Representatives in Congress, with which they
are hereby charged, be instructed to direct their attention to
that portion of the Message of the Governor of the State
which relates to this important subject;
Which was read and referred to the committee on internal
Improvements;
Also the following bills:
A bill to incorporate Freedom Lodge, No. 112;
Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Corporations.
A bill to legalize the election of Trustees of the Lutheran
Church, of Frostburg;
Which was read the first time and referred to the com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.
A bill to amend the Firemen's Insurance Company of
Baltimore;
Which was read the first time and referred to the com-
mittee on Corporations,
A bill incorporating the "Washington County Railroad;
