this union two children were born, William Humphreys Jack-
son and Elizabeth Shelmerdine Jackson.

At the 3918 session of the General Assembly of Maryland
Mr. Jackson was elected Treasurer of Maryland, succeeding
Mr. John M. Dennis and assumed the office during the month
of February. 1918.

Clerk of the Court of Appeals: CALEB C. MAGRUDER (Demo-
crat), of Prince George County.

Caleb Clarke Magruder, of Prince George County, son of
Caleb Magruder, lawyer, and Mary Sprigg Belt, was gradu-
ated A. B. and A. M., Georgetown University. Studied Jaw
at the University of Virginia. Married Elizabeth Bice, daugh-
ter of Dr. Richard Thomas Nalle and Ellen Anne Hooe, of
Virginia. Democratic candidate for State Senator from
Prince George's in 1881, and for Associate Judge of Seventh
Judicial Circuit in 1897. Elected Clerk of the Court of Ap-
peals November 5,1917.

At the elections of 1913 and. 1919 Mr. Magruder was re-
elected Clerk of the Court of Appeals for a term of six years.

Comptroller of the Treasury; E. BBOOKE LEE (Democrat),

Silver Spring, Maryland.

Edward Brooke Lee, the eldest son of Blair Lee and Anne
Clymer Brooke Lee, was born October 23rd, 1892.

He lived with his father at Silver Spring, Maryland, at-
tending public and private schools until he was fifteen years
old, at which age he entered Pomfert School, Pomfert Center,
Connecticut, graduating there in 1912, then entering Prince-
ton University and completing the Freshman year of the
Class of 1916. He left Princeton to work in his father's office
during the day, his father then being United States Senator
from Maryland, and at night attended the law school at
George Washington University, Washington, D. C., and grad-
uated from that institution with the degree of LL. B. in June,
. 1917. In 1914 he married Elizabeth Somerville Wilson,
daughter of Joseph B. and Jeannette Yates Clagett Wilson,
of Upper Marlboro, Maryland. They have two sons, Blair
Lee III and Edward Brooke Lee, Jr.

In June, 3912, Brooke Lee enlisted in F Company, First
Maryland Infantry, at Hyattsville, Maryland. He held all
