RULES of OFFICE.        159

They are not to pass two different accounts,
on one sheet of paper; nor annex a list of debts
at the foot of the account; but have every paper
separate and distinct.

They are not to curtail the accounts with
ditto's and &c's, but be as full, and explicit as
may be.

They are not to accept of any inventory that
is not appraised in dollars at six shillings; or
whereof the sum total is not at least reduced into
that currency, by the subtraction of one
fifth.

They are not to pass any accounts, without
being able to strike a clear balance; that is, if
the amount of the inventory of the balance of
a former account is not known to them, they
are not to leave a blank for it in such account,
but must postpone closing or taking the probate
to it, until such account or balance be certified
to them from the office.

They are not to make sale of any copies, either
of wills, or other matters relating to this
office; deputy commissaries are not the proper
officers appointed by law for that service, and
such copies are not evidence.
