THURSDAY, January 20,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Hildt.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Biggs, Browne, Carroll, Denson, Earle,
Fields, Henkle, Hyland, Jump, Maddox, Malone, Miller,
Sellman, Snyder, Stephenson, Timmons; Welch,Wilson—19.

The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

Mr. Malone presented the petition of George W. Robinson,
on behalf of the citizens of Wicomico county, asking for an
amendment to the Oyster law, go as to further protect oysters
in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Chesa-
peake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr Hyland presented the petition of Noah Webster, of
Somerset county, praying the repayment of money errone-
ously paid on account of the draft.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 20,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

In accordance with the arrangement entered into by the
two Houses, and in compliance with the law in such case
made and provided, we are now ready to proceed to an elec-
tion of Police Commissioners for Baltimore city, and respect-
fully solicit the presence of your Honorable Body in this
Chamber.

We have nominated on the part of the House Messrs.
Lefevre Jarrett, James E. Carr, W. H, B. Fusselbaugh, and
W. H. Neilson.
