520 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 1,

Act of 186G, chapter 43, entitled an Act to incorporate
the President and Directors of the Baltimore and Pikes-
ville Railroad Company of Baltimore, and re-enact a substi-
tute therefor,

Which was read a first time and referred to the Committee
on Corporations.

The bill entitled an Act to direct the Comptroller to issue
his warrant to the Treasurer to pay George Colton & Son the
sum of twenty-four hundred, ninety-five dollars and forty-
seven cents.

Which was read a first time and referred to the Committee
on Claims.

Also, returned the following bill :
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays."

The bill entitled an Act to repeal so much of section 12,
chapter 267, of the Act passed March 1860, entitled an Act
to incorporate a Company to open in part, and improve the
road from Frederiek city, in Fiederick county, to Spout
Spring, &c., as relates to rates of toll, and enact the follow-
ing.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 101, 102, 105
and 145, of Article 11, of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Frederick county, relating to the powers and duties of the
Mayor, Aldermen and Common Council of Frederick, and to
re-enact the same with amendments,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reauing.

Mr. Purnell moved that the rules be suspended, and the
House proceed to the consideration of the Senate bill entitled
an Act to amend the Public General Laws, passed January
session 1865, chapter 31, so as to exempt Somerset and Dor-
chester counties from the effect of the second section thereof,
so far as relates to the publication of the Local Laws.

Decided in the negative.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize and require the Coun-
ty Commissioners of Baltimore county to levy a sum of money
not exceeding three hundred dollars for the purpose of re-
imbursing certain parties for expense incurred in the erec-
tion of two bridges in Baltimore county,

Was read a second time and orderded to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to aid and assist the Fire Depart-
ment of Hagerstown,
