Leave to Messrs, Claggett, Crawford and Stephen son to
introduce a bill, entitled an Act to authorize the Commis-
sioners of Washington county to subscribe to the capital
stock of the Marsh Turnpike Company of Washington
county.
Also,
Presented the petition of J. H. Wells and one hundred
and fifty other citizens of Hagerstown.
Which was referred to Messrs. Claggett, Crawford and
Stephenson.
Also,
On motion by Mr. Dennis,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Dennis, Sellman and Wil-
liams to introduce a bill, entitled an Act to change the name
of Potato Neck Election District to Fairmount Election Dis-
trict,
On motion by Mr. Davis,
The vote by which the Senate passed the House bill, mak-
ing valid the action of certain Road Supervisors for Balti-
more county,
Was reconsidered, and
Said bill was postponed.
Mr. Steiner, from a Select Committee, to which had been
referred,
The House bill, entitled an Act for the better protection of
birds in Frederick county,
Reported said bill with the following amendments :
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the enacting clause, and insert the fol-
lowing sections :
Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, at any
time, to shoot, or otherwise to kill or injure, or pursue with
such intent any of the following named birds within the
limits of Frederick county, viz : Robins, bluebirds, thrushes,
martins, swallows, larks, orioles, redbirds, catbirds, spar-
rows, whippoorwills, wrens, peewits, gold finches, sapsuck-
ers or woodpeckers; provided, that nothing contained in this
Act shall be so constructed as to prevent the killing or cap-
ture of crows, blackbirds or birds of prey.
Section 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be unlawful for
any person, knowingly and unnecessarily to destroy or dis-
