The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill made the order of the day for Tuesday next, the sixth
of February. .
The bill, entitled an Act authorizing the Commissioners of
Baltimore county to build a bridge over Jones' alls, at Rog-
ers' Avenue,
Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
The bill, entitled an Act to amend section 1, chapter 473
of the Acts of 1870, entitled an Act to add an additional sec-
tion to Article IV., of the Code of Public Local Laws, enti-
tled "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Police," and be section
827 of said Article, by providing that jurisdiction in cases
where concealed weapons are found upon offenders, he ex-
tended to all Justices of the Peace of the State of Maryland,
in the City of Baltimore,
Was read a second time and ordered to he engrossed for a
third reading.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:
BY THE SENATE,
January 30th, 1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:'
We have received your message, proposing the appoint-
ment of a Joint Special Committee to visit and examine into
the condition of the Maryland Penitentiary, and non-concur
therein.
And propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body
the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of five, two on
the part of the Senate, and three on the part of the House, to
visit the House of Refuge and Maryland Penitentiary, and to
examine into their condition; and, also, to examine into the
condition of the prisoners in the Penitentiary, and recom-
mend to the Governor meritorious cases for Executive clem-
ency.
We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs. Blake
and Jump.
