of the commissioners in the point confirmed by the jury, and
between the parties, and those claiming under them, shall conclude
to every intent and purpose, and the said land shall be for ever
thereafter secured and confirmed to the vestry of said Parish and
their successors, in as full and ample a manner as if a deed or
deeds had been regularly executed and recorded therefor.

                                            CHAP. CIV.
An Act for the relief of Levin Carey, of Worcester County.  Lib. TH.

Passed Dec. 27.
    BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
justices of the levy court of Worcester county, shall be, and they
are hereby directed and empowered, at their levy court annually,
so long as they shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable
property of said county, a sum of money not exceeding thirty dollars,
nor less than twenty dollars, for the support and maintenance
of Levin (a) Carey, of said county, and that the same be collected
annually, by the collector of said county, and paid to such person
or persons as the levy court of said county shall or may direct.

                            (a)  Should be Levi.  See Nov. 1812, ch. 9.

                                            CHAP. CV.
An Act to pay the Civil List, and other expenses of Civil Government.
                            Lib. TH. No. 3, fol. 123.

Passed Dec. 27.
    WHEREAS those who dedicate their time, abilities and labour to
the public, ought to receive a reasonable and adequate compensation
for their services.
Preamble.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the following officers of civil government, for the time being, shall
be entitled to receive at the rate of the following salaries, in current
money, for the ensuing year, to wit:  The treasurer of the
western shore, two thousand dollars; the treasurer of the eastern
shore, four hundred and fifty dollars; the auditor, eight hundred
dollars; the clerk of the council, eight hundred dollars; the clerk
of the senate, one hundred and fifty dollars; the clerk of the house
of delegates, three hundred dollars; the printer to the state, twelve
hundred dollars, and the messenger to the council, two hundred
and fifty dollars.

    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That all monies which shall remain in
the treasury after discharging the journal of accounts; and all unappropriated
money which may come into the treasury, be first applied
to the payment of the civil list for the ensuing year.

An Act to lay out and open a Road in Worcester County.  Lib. TH.
                                           No. 3, fol. 123.

Passed Dec. 27.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
George Hayward, Benjamin Purnell, Samuel Porter, Wheatly
Dennis and Charles Bennett, junior, be and they are hereby appointed
commissioners to lay out, survey, mark and bound, a public
road in Worcester county, not exceeding thirty feet wide, beginning
at or near the plantation of William Townsend, upon the road
leading from Snow Hill to Lawes' mill; thence running and passing
by or through the lands of Thomas Cottingham and Rachel Coulbourn,
Commissioners appointed
to lay out
and survey a road.
