                                LAWS OF MARYLAND.

                                        CHAP. CCXIV.
An Act for the payment of the Journal of Accounts.  Lib. TH. No.
                                             6, fol. 442.

Preamble.     WHEREAS it appears by the journal of accounts of this session
that there is due from this state the sum of thirty-seven thousand
four hundred and thirteen dollars, and fifty-eight and an half cents.
Treasurer authorised
to pay.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby authorised
and required, to pay the several persons, their executors, administrators,
assigns or orders, or to such of them as shall offer to receive
the same, the several sums of current money allowed to them
respectively, as they appear to be settled and ascertained by the
said journal of accounts, out of any money now in the treasury, or
that shall come into the treasury, subject to the appropriation of
the general assembly.

                                          CHAP. CCXV.
An Act to prevent Geese and Swine from going at large in the Town
    of Upper Marlborough, in Prince-George's County.

at large may
be taken up and 
sold.











Proviso.
    1.  BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That 
it shall and may be lawful for all and every free white person or
persons, to take up and impound any geese or swine which may be
found going at large in the said town, and the person or persons
so taking up the same, shall give four days notice, by advertisements
set up in four of the most public places in the said town,
describing the geese or swine so taken up, and that the same will
be sold at public sale at the most public square in the said town, to
the highest bidder for cash, one half of the purchase money to go
to the person so taking up the said geese or swine, and the other
half to the owner or owners; and if no owner or owners shall
claim the said half on the day of sale, the said half to go to the
person so taking up the said geese or swine; Provided always,
that if the owner or owners of the said geese or swine can prove
to the satisfaction of any one of the justices of the peace residing
in the said town, that the said geese or swine did not go at large
from negligence or want of care on the part of the said owner or
owners, and that due diligence was used to prevent it, then and in
that case the owner or owners shall have return of the said property,
on paying all expenses of keeping and proving the same.

force on the first of
March.
    2.  AND BE IT ENACTED, That this act is hereby declared to be
in full force and effect after the first day of March next, any law
to the contrary notwithstanding.

in testamentary affairs, and also in the act‡, entitled, An act
