                          Proceedings of Electors
                                          of
                       President and Vice President
              of the United States in and for the State of
                                  Maryland 1864.

On the first Wednesday in December being the Seventh
day of the said month, in the year one thousand Eight
hundred fifty-four; the day appointed by the Constitution
and Laws of the United States, on which the Electors of
President and Vice President of the United States of America,
are directed to assemble and perform the trust reposed in
them; there appeared in the Senate Chamber, in the City
of Annapolis (The place designated by Acts of Assembly for the
meeting of the said Electors) the following gentlemen who had
been proclaimed by the Executive Authority of the State, to
have been duly elected Electors of President and Vice President
of the United States in and for the state of Maryland:  Towit:
            Wm. P.. Albert of Baltimore County.
        Henry N. Goldsborough Talbot County.
        Wm. H. W. Farrow of Worcester County.
        Wm. S. Reese of Baltimore City.
        R. Stroker Matthews of Baltimore City.
        Isaac Nesbit of Washington County.
        Geo. W. Sands of Howard County.
    The said Electors severally qualified by taking and subscribing
the following oath prescribed by the Constitution and Laws of
Maryland and to be taken by all civil officers, and declaring
their belief in the Christian religion:  Towit:
    We Wm. P. Albert, Henry H. Goldsborough, Wm. H. W. Farrow,
Wm. S. Reese, R. Stroker Matthews, Isaac Nesbit, & Geo. W. Sands do
swear that we will to the best of our skill and judgments diligently
and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice execute
the office of Elector for President and Vice President of the United
States according to the Constitution and Laws of the State of Maryland,
and since the (4th.) fourth day of July, in the year Eighteen
hundred and fifty-one have not in any manner violated the
provisions of the present, or of the late Constitution in relation to
the bribery of voters, or preventing legal votes or procuring
illegal votes to be given, for President and Vice President as aforesaid,
and that we will not directly or indirectly receive the profits
or any part of the profits of any other office during the term of our
voting as aforesaid, We do further swear that we will bear true
