                                            Proceedings of Electors

                                                            of

President and Vice President of the United States in and for the State of Maryland

On the second Monday of January, being the ninth day of said month
in the Year Eighteen hundred and ninety-three, the day appointed by the Constitution
and Laws of the United States on which the Electors of President
and Vice President of the United States of America are directed to assemble
and perform the trust reposed in them, there appeared at the hour of noon,
in the Senate Chamber, in the State House, in the City of Annapolis (the
time and place designated by Acts of Assembly for the meeting of said
Electors) the following gentlemen who had been proclaimed by the Executive
Authority of the State to have been duly elected Electors of President
and Vice President of the United States in and for the State of Maryland,
To Wit:
                                    John Lee Carroll
                                    Alonzo L. Miles        At Large

                                    William Massey
                                    Frederick William Baker
                                    John Hannibal
                                    Charles Ridgely Goodwin
                                    Abram Claude
                                    William Veirs Bowie Jr.

The said Electors severally qualified by taking the oath prescribed
by the Constitution to be taken by all civil officers.

On motion by Mr. Bowie
                                        Hon. John Lee Carroll was unanimously
chosen President of the College and was escorted to the Chair by Messrs
Goodwin and Hannibal:  and addressed the Electors.

On motion by Mr. Goodwin        W. G. Purnell Secretary of
the Senate    was elected Secretary to the College.
