36.                            1816.

The State of Maryland, Towit:
                    The Board being in possession of the returns from the
several Counties of this State, and the City of Baltimore, of the Election
held lately for the choice of Electors, on the part of this State,
to choose a President and Vice President of the United States, proceeded,
agreeably to the direction of the Act of Assembly in such case
made and provided, to enumerate and ascertain the votes given
for each person voted for as aforesaid, and it appearing that William
Dent Beale, Joseph Kent, Edward Johnson, John Stephen, John
Buchanan, Lawrence Bringle, George Warner, William C. Miller,
Benjamin C. Massey, Thomas Ennalls and Littleton Dennis Esquires
had the greatest number of votes.
                    Therefore it is hereby certified and declared that the said
William Dent Beale, Joseph Kent, Edward Johnson, John Stephen,
John Buchanan, Lawrence Bringle, George Warner, William C.
Miller, Benjamin Massey, Thomas Ennalls, and Littleton Dennis
Esquires are duly elected Electors on the part of this State, to choose a
President and Vice President of the United States.
                            Given, in Council, at the City of Annapolis, under
                                        the Great Seal of the State of Maryland, this
                                        second Day of December in the year of our
                                        Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred
                                        and Sixteen and of the Independence of
                                        the United States of American the forty
                                        first.
