MONDAY, April 6, 1874.

The following communications which had been received
from His Excellency, Governor Groome, by the hands of
Richard C. Hollyday, Esq., Secretary of State, were read :

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, April 6, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

I nominate Thomas J. Shea, as Commissioner of Deeds, to
take acknowledgments, &c., for the State of Maryland, to
reside at Washington, D. C.

JAMES BLACK GROOME.

On motion by Mr. Blake,

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
pointment agreeably to the nomination.

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, April 6,1874.

Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

nominate William E. Lewis, as Justice of the Peace for
Frederick county, an additional Justice of the Peace provided
for by law of this session, for the 9th district.

The Senate advised and consented to the aforegoing ap-
