On motion of Mr. Grimes,

Leave was granted to the Washington county delegation
to report a bill lor the encouragement of sheep-raising in
Washington county.

Mr. Johnson, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the
following order :

Ordered, That the Governor be requested to furnish this
House, at the earliest practicable day, a correct list of all boats
seized during the last two years, with their names and the
names of their owners, where they belong, and the particu-
lars of their violation of the law, together with the amount
of fines recovered by the State, and the amount of fines which
have been remitted.

Which was adopted.
Mr. Henkle submitted the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 14th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
that the Committees on Education of the two Houses be
authorized to act as a Joint Standing Committee on Educa-
tion.

Which, was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.

Mr. Colton, acting Chairman of the Select Committee to
recommend permanent subordinate officers for the House,
submitted the following

REPORT.

The Committee appointed by the Speaker to select perma-
ment officers for the House, beg leave to report the following,
and recommend that any additional officers that may be re-
quired, be appointed by the Speaker :

Sergeant-at-Arms, F. J. Wheeler, Carroll county ; Assis-
tant Sergeant-at-Arms, S. M. Tubman, Howard county;
Post-Master, I. E. Mattingly, St. Mary's county ; Assistant
Post-Master, W. F. Lazenby, Montgomery county ; Journal
Clerk, H. A. Silver, Harford county ; Door-Keeper, Conrad
Prinz, 1st Legislative District Baltimore City; Assistant
Door-Keeper, Ezra Beterbenner, Washington county; Messen-
ger, V. F. Collier, Wicomico county; Committee Clerks,
B. T. Sheppard, Cecil county, H, G. Webb, Anne Arundel
