to members of the Maryland National Guard who are injured in line of
duty, and in case any such members are killed in line of duty, then to the
widows and infant children of such members. Such "Veterans' Relief
Fund" shall be distributed to such persons of the above classes and in such
amounts as the Commission provided for in Section 82 in this Article shall
deem proper. The provisions of this sub-title shall cover the death of any
member of the Maryland National Guard killed in line of duty subsequent
to July 2, 1921, and the child of any such deceased member.

82. The Governor shall appoint a Commission known as the "Mary-
land Veterans Commission", to be composed of five Maryland Veterans,
one of whom shall be designated by the Governor as Chairman. The mem-
bers of the Commission shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

The members of the Commission as thus constituted shall serve without
pay; members of the Commission shall be paid actual traveling expenses
necessitated by their duties, when authorized and approved by the
Commission.

The Maryland Veterans Commission shall make such rules and regula-
tions as it may deem necessary for administration and disbursement of
such Veterans' Relief Funds, as are provided for in the Budget, and the
Chairman shall approve all bills and vouchers before payment by the
Comptroller.

83. The Maryland Veterans Commission shall have the power and
authority in its discretion, to expend from the funds under its control,
not to exceed One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($150.00) annually for
each War Orphan of Maryland after reaching the age of eighteen (18)
years, for the purpose of attending a secondary school, college or uni-
versity, or pursuing a course of vocational training.

84. The Maryland Veterans Commission shall assist Maryland ex-
service men and women and Veterans or their dependents, who are residents
of Maryland, who are or may be entitled to aid from the United States
Government pursuant to Federal Legislation for the benefit of Veterams
and their dependents, in preparing and presenting their claims to the
proper Federal authorities and agencies, and in securing and expediting
action thereon. The Commission shall use its efforts to relieve and prevent
congestion of such claims, and cause, as far as possible, every Veteran and
dependents of any Veteran, to receive promptly and regularly the maxi-
mum relief and benefit to which they are, or may become entitled to, under
the Federal law.

The words "Veterans" and "ex-service men and women" as used in
this section include any individual who served on active duty in time of
War, Campaign or Expedition, in the Army, Navy or Marine Corps of the
United States, and who has received an honorable discharge from such
service.

The Maryland Veterans Commission shall appoint an officer who shall
be known as "State Service Officer", and such assistants as may be found
