SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 77.
(House Bill 45)

AN ACT making an emergency appropriation from surplus to
the Department of Maryland State Police for food main-
tenance allowance for the personnel of said Department for
the fiscal years ending June 30, 1948, and June 30, 1949,
respectively.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sum of Fifty-Three Thousand, Two Hundred
and Ninety-four Dollars ($53, 294. 00), or so much thereof as
may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated as
an emergency appropriation from any funds in the General
Surplus Fund Account of the Treasury of the State of Mary-
land for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1948 to the Depart-
ment of Maryland State Police, and that the sum of Seventy
Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty Dollars ($70, 280. 00), or
so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is
hereby appropriated as an emergency appropriation from any
funds in the General Surplus Fund Account of the Treasury
of the State of Maryland for the fiscal year ending June 30,
1949 to the Department of Maryland State Police, said sums
to be used by the Department of Maryland State Police for
food maintenance allowance for the personnel of said Depart-
ment.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State shall, upon the warrant of the Comptroller, disburse
the said sum of money herein appropriated for the objects
and purposes herein specified to or upon the order of the
person or persons entitled to receive the same.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
