An Abreviation of the Laws of this Province now in force in Ano Dom. 1688.

An Act for un certaine goods = If any goods be found they shall belong to the Proprty and Sold at outer ---
1. but if any lay just claime to any part or the whole in 3 years time Shall have them againe the ffind
of the sd goods to have one half for his pains. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
An Act against sudden accidents. == : All Comissions undr. ye Ld. Proprty wch are in force at his death, shall so remaine
3. till a new Comn published under ye great Seale In case ye Lt. Genell absent decease wthout appointing another then
ye Chief Councell of State at St. Maryes shall excercise the office,
4. All Lands purchased from Indians Shall be voyd, Except there be a grant from ye Lord Proprty - - - - - - - -
An Act against certaine offences touching the Peace and saifty of this Province == All Mutineers Seditions speeches
practises or attempts without force shall be punished by imprisonmt. dureing pleasure not exceeding one year for
banishmt. boaring the tongue, Slitting the Nose Cutting of one or both ears, whipping Branding, any one or moor as
the Provinciall Court shall thinke fitt, The Same with force, punished with loss of hand or Death. Confiscation

An Act against raising of money wthout ye Consent of the Assembly -- -
An concerning Levying of Warr in this Province= No freemn shall be compelled to Assist in ye sd Warr, unless made G--?
An Act for punishing some other offences=Every person striking any officer Juror or Witness in the prsence of ye Court for strike
an other upon wth a drawne weapon, or striking a Majestrate in doing his ofice shall loose his right hand, or burnt in the hand
or put to any other shame. all false witnesses upon oath, or any hireing or perswading anyone there unto shall be (placed)
the pillory and loose both ears, or other Corporall Shames. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

An Act - -A penalty on those who shall dispose of any Tobacco recd and markt by any person or for any accot whatsoever
pay foure fold, to ye party grieved and Stand in the pillory two hours in time of Court wth his offence - - - - -

An Act Concerning Negroes and other Slaves = All Nigroes and other Slaves and Children of Such Nigroes and (Others)
shall Serve durante vito. Whatsoever free borne woman shall intermarry with any Slave shall Serve the Master (of such)
Slave dureing the life of her husband, and all the Children of Such Slave shall be Servants as their ffather were All Children
already borne of Such woman so marryed shall Serve 30 years and no longer - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Servants when free shall have a good cloth Suit, A new shift of white lining, one New pr shoos & stockens 2 (hoes&)
one Ax. 3 Barrels of Indian Corne. All women Servts. to have the like provision of Clothes and Corne.
Any Servt brought into the Province above 22 years of age wthout Indenture shall Serve five years. If between (18 )
and 22 years 6 years: If Between fifteen and 18: Seven years. If under 15 shall serve till 22 years of age


An Act for 2s pr hd. to the Lor Propry of this Province to be pd pr every Master before he take out dispatches In - - -
the levy to be made but by Assembly, as also My Lds receivers to take tobacco at 2d pr pound for Levies R- - - -
other dutyes: This Act to endure the life of his Ldshp and Caceillius and one Cropp more.


An Act appointing Court dayes. St. Maryes Baltemore and Dorchester County Court shall be held ye first tuesday in 7ber
9ber, January March, June for Orphants. And the first tuesday in An Arundell Charles, Somerset & ( )
- - - - - But Somerset Crt ye 2d tuesday in the aforesd Months June, of Orphants Court, ye 3d tuesday in the aforesd
months for Kent
Where the Law of this Country is Silent, Justice shall be administred according to ye laws & Statutes of England


An Act touching Cooper and Gage of Tobacco hds. All Tobacco hds that shall be made are to be 43 Inches & - - -
27 Inches in the head. and not under 42 and 26 Inches. Otherwayes made the Cooper to forfeit a - - -
Any Cooper Agreeing wth any Inhabitants to Sett up their Caske shall Sett up one halfe of the Caskes by 2?
of 8ber, ye other half by the 10th. December. for every Ten? left unfinished the Cooper to forfeit 100lb of tobacco

An Act for the Encouragmt of Tillage: All money debts or other wayes contracted, except My Lds R - - - -
pd in the Comodities with their rates as followeth. viz Indian Corne Shilled at 18d. of 18lb. Tobacco ye bushell
wheat at 4s. or 48lb. Tobacco ye bush. Oats at 2s. or 2.4lb Tob. Barly 2s:6d - 30.lb Tobacco. Pease at 8d or 8lb Tob.?
The bushel. Porke at 2d or 2lb. Tobacco Beef at 1d or 1 lb Tobacco Bacon at 4d or 4lb Tobacco pr pound - - -
(money) is Sterling: Porke & Beef to be cleane and Sweet Sound and Merchantable and to be pd and received
good Sufficient Caske and barrell gt 32 gallons nearest of wch. 32l to be allowed for tare. - - - - - - - - - - - - - -


Ports of Exchange wch comes hither protested, the damages allowed by act is 20 pr Cent, over and above ye debt - - -
Togeather with ordnary Costs of Suite this to endure 3 years or to ye next Assembly.


An Act for the height of fences. All fences for Corne fields to be five feet high sufficient - - - -
on the judgment of 2 Men, any horse or cow? breaking in the owner shall pay the damages.
