Also, the following communication from the Adjutant
General:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

Adjutant General's Office,

Annapolis, January, 9th, 1878.
HON. EDWARD LLOYD,

President of the Senate:

Sir: —I have the honor to lay before your Honorable Body
a copy of the report made from this Department to the Gov-
ernor, in pursuance of law, for the year 1877, showing dis-
bursement of annual appropriation, etc., and beg leave to
state that any further information which may be required
will be promptly and fully given.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Militia.

Mr. Franklin presented the petition of Joseph Hall, and
ninety-nine others, asking an amendment of the Local Law
of Worcester County, in relation to seines and fishing.

Also, the petition of John R. Purnell, and forty-two
others, asking the repeal of the Local Law of 'Worcester
County, restricting the size of meshes in seines.

Which were read and referred to Messrs. Franklin, Dennis
and Humphreys.

On motion by Mr. Joyce, it was

Ordered, That the officers of the Senate severally receive
the same amount of postage stamps as received at last session.

On motion by Mr. Sulivane, it was.

Ordered, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be requested
to furnish to the Senate a statement of the number of dredg-
ing licenses issued by him for the season commencing in Sep-
tember last to January 1st and the amounts of money paid
therefor. Also, the names of the vessels to which such li-
censes were issued, and the names of the respective counties
and the City of Baltimore to which they were respectively
issued, in alphabetical order.
