850 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 29,

"Sec. 3. Be it enacted, That the County Commissioners of
said county are authorized and required, immediately after
the passage of this law, to make and adopt any and all rules
and regulations that they may consider necessary to secure
the said repairs on said public roads. "To appoint dis-
trict Road Commissioners and such other agents or
Supervisors as they may deem necessary, Provided, how-
ever, said rules and regulations shall be uniform, and the
pay of said District Commissioners, Agents or Supervisors
shall not exceed the sum of one dollar and fifty cents per day,
and that, only when actually at work on, or superintending
the repairs of said road.

Amend Section 4, so as to read as follows :

Sec. 4. Be it enacted, That said Commissioners, as soon
after each annual levy as practicable, shall apportion the
sum so levied for Public Roads to the several Election Dis-
tricts in said County, as they may deem just and fair, and
place said list in the hands of the Collectors, to be paid by
them to such road accounts, as may be passed or approved by
said County Commissioners."

Amend by striking out "Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10."

Amend Section 11, so as to read as "Section 5," and strike
out the words, "to regulate the width of said Public Roads."

Amend Sections 12 and 13, so as to read as "Sections 6 and
7."

Which were adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.

Mr. Dennis, from Committee on Judicial Proceedings, re-
ported favorably,

House Joint Resolutions authorizing Judicial Proceedings
to give effect to the Electoral Vote of Maryland.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Lancaster, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill to authorize the County Commissioners of
Charles County to inquire into, and if found correct, to pay
to Samuel Queen, money erroneously paid by him as taxes.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Gorman, from Committee on Corporations, (two-thirds
of all the Senators concurring,) by yeas and nays, as follows;
