2240 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

fiscal years of said biennium, under the provisions, and
within the limitations of Section 9 of Article 15-A of
the Annotated Code of Maryland.

WHEREAS, the House of Delegates and the Senate, from
a study of the budget submitted, are convinced that the
expenditures provided for in said budget may be reduced
by at least $500,000 in each of the next two fiscal years
without any sacrifice in the efficient operation of the State
government, now therefore,

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor and the Board of Public Works be and
they are hereby directed to reduce such items of appro-
priation as they may deem most advisable in the budget for
the next biennium by amounts which will aggregate at
least $500,000 in each of the two fiscal years of said
biennium, all in conformity with, and subject to, the limi-
tations of Section 9 of Article 15-A of the Annotated Code
of Maryland.

NO. 22.
(Senate Joint Resolution 11)

A Senate Joint Resolution requesting the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County to appoint, before October 1,
1947, a Committee of competent citizens to inquire into
and study the advisability and feasibility of establishing
and operating a County Liquor Dispensary in said County.

WHEREAS, there has been introduced in the House of
Delegates House Bill No. 563, in which there is established
a County Liquor Wholesale Dispensary and in which the
County Commissioners of Allegany County are authorized
and empowered to provide funds for the establishment
and operation thereof; and

WHEREAS, there has arisen in the minds of the propo-
nents of this legislation serious doubt as to the pragmatic
value of the proposed dispensary in light of the possible
difficulty involved in purchasing the distilled spirits and
alcoholic beverages so to be dispensed from wholesale
dealers and manufacturers; and

WHEREAS, House Bill No. 563 provides for the expendi-
ture of several hundred thousand dollars from which
