1006 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Apl. 21,

On motion by Mr. Getty, it was

Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims
pay to the Janitor the usual per diem for his daily attendance
at this Extra Session ; and Keeper of Water Closet two dol-
lars and fifty cents per diem for his daily attendance.

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the order here-
tofore submitted by Mr. Lloyd,

Mr. Phelps submitted the following amendment :

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out "two" and insert "one."
Which was adopted.
Mr. Stevens withdrew the amendment,

When, Mr. Lloyd, (by unanimous consent) withdrew said
order.

On motion by Mr. Lloyd,

The vote by which an order was heretofore adopted, au-
thorizing the Chairman of and Clerk of the Committee on
Claims to receive the same per diem and mileage for attend-
ance at the Extra Session of the Senate, as is allowed the
members of the Senate,

Was reconsidered, when,

Mr. Lloyd submitted the following as a substite for said
order :

Ordered, That the Chairman and Clerk of the Committee
on Claims be allowed the same per diem, for attendance at
the Extra Session of the Senate, as is allowed to the Secre-
tary of the Senate.

Which was read and adopted.

At 1.15 P. M.,

The doors were again opened, when,
On motion by Mr. Walsh,

The Senate took a recess for thirty minutes.

At 1.45 P. M.,

The Senate again resumed business, with the following
Senators present:

Messrs. Fields, President, Brewer, Cooper, Dennis, Free-
man, Getty, Hepbron, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCul-
loh, Newcomer, Stevens, Steiner, Suit—16.

At 2.10 P.M.,

On motion by Walsh,

The Senate went into Executive Session.

At 2.40 P. M.,

The doors were again opened.
