Memorial of Merchandise brokers of Baltimore,
asking a suspension of $300 license on their busi-
ness, on account of the depression of trade; refer-
red to, 96.

Bill reported making appropriation for the pay-
ment of the expenses of the extra session of the
General Assembly of Maryland for the year 1861;
read the first and, by special order, the second
and third time, and passed, 147.

Leave granted the, to bring in a bill to amend
the 18th Article of the Code of General Laws, by
adding thereto a section in relation to the com-
pensation of the clerks of the several courts of
this State, and the clerks of the Superior Court
and court of Common Pleas of Baltimore city,
169.

Report of, on the Memorial of George E. Sangs-
ton for a law to permit him to draw on the Treas-
ury of the State from time to time for such amount
as may be needed to meet the deficiency in cur-
rent office expenses; referred to said committee,
that it is inexpedient, and ask to be discharged from
its further consideration, 205 ; minority report
thereon recommending the passage of the act
prayed for; read, and laid on the table, 205.

Petition of State Tax collectors of Washington,
for a law to allow payments into the Treasury to
be made in current funds instead of specie ; refer-
red to, 213; unfavorable report thereon, 248.

Communication of C. M. Wood ; referred to,
214 ; reported back to the House, and laid on the
table, 243.

Order from, that the committee appointed to
investigate the affairs of the Maryland Peniten-
tiary, extend their investigation to the financial
affairs of the Institution, adopted, 248.

Petition of Rebecca T. Neill of Baltimore city
