Which was, on motion of Mr. Chaplain, laid upon the
table.

On motion of Mr. Landing,
The House adjourned until 5 o'clock, P. M.

EVENING SESSION, 5 o'clock, P. M.

The House met pursuant to adjournment.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Briscoe, Parran, Worthington, Denison, Quinlan,
Jones, of, Talbot, Chaplain, Dennis, of Somerset, Long, Law-
son, Keene, Holland, Maxwell, Jones, of Prince George's,
Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kess-
ler, Claggett, Routzahn, Johnson, Salmon, Straughn, Golds-
borough, Brune, Warfield, Pitts, Harrison, Thomas, Wallis,
Scott, Winans, Morfit, Sangston, Wilson, of Harford, McCoy,
Eakle, Brining, Griffith, Gordon, Barnard, McCleary, Roop,
Gorsuch, Mills, Turner and Brown.

Mr. Gordon offered the following :

Ordered, That the rules of the last House of Delegates be
adopted for the government of the present session, except the
XLV rule, and that the Speaker appoint the following com-
mittees instead of those appointed at the late session, to-wit:

A Committee of Ways and Means; Committee on Claims ;
Committee on Judiciary; Committee on Military Affairs;
Committee on Federal Relations ; Committee on Currency,
to consist of seven members each.

Mr. Chaplain offered the following substitute :

Ordered, a reconstruction of all of the standing commit-
tees, under the rules of the House,
Which was lost.

The question then recurring upon the original order, it
was adopted.

Mr. Mills offered the following:
Ordered, That a committee of two be appointed to wait
