ARCHIVIST OF THE HALL OF RECORDS 7

July 15, 1947 when she resigned to be married. Judith C. Palmquist,
who was already a member of the staff, accepted this position as of
the next day.

Senior Stenographer: This position, which was held at the beginning
of the year by Judith C. Palmquist, was accepted by Angelyn W.
Parks, July 16, 1947.

Record Cataloguer and Indexer I: This position was vacant at the be-
ginning of the year; Jean R. McNiece accepted it April 1, 1948.

Record Cataloguer and Indexer II: Martha Suit, who vacated this
position July 15, 1947, was succeeded in it immediately by Peggy C.
Benning.

Editorial Assistant I: This is a new and temporary position created
for work on the Maryland Manual. The first appointee was John P.
Hively, January 16, 1948. A second worker on the Manual classified
as Editorial Assistant II, Elizabeth Brewer, was appointed on the
same day. She resigned June 15, 1948, and the position has been
dropped.

Manuscript Repair Technician II: Lenvilla Rawlings resigned July 31,
1947. She was succeeded by Jan Furst, who served until October 15,
when she resigned and was succeeded in turn by Claire D. Lincoln.

Note: During the greater part of the year we were unable to find
a person properly qualified for the position of Record Cataloguer and
Indexer I. With the permission of the Employment Commissioner, this
classification was temporarily reduced to Record Cataloguer and Indexer
II and was filled by Martha Thompson, October 16-24, 1947 and Bar-
bara Brittain, November 1, 1947 - March 31, 1948.
