HALL OF RECORDS COMMISSION

The Hall of Records Commission is an ex officio body, created by
Chapter 18, Acts of 1935, to collect and preserve the non-current records
of Maryland and to encourage research and investigation in the history of
the State. Since passage of this Act, the Hall of Records has been assigned
additional duties: it is responsible for compiling and editing the Maryland
Manual; it has been made a depository for ail State agency publications; it
administers the State Records Management Program; it is responsible for
the microfilming of all current land records and for providing two copies
of the film, a negative for the Land Office and a positive for the use of the
State Tax Commission in the preparation of tax maps. The Archivist has
agreed in the coming years to microfilm the day's proceedings for the Gen-
eral Assembly at the end of each legislative day. The work of the Hall of
Records Commission is performed at the Hall of Records building in An-
napolis. (Flack's Code 1951, Article 41, Sections 121, 148-157; Chapters
436, 437, Acts of 1953.)
