influential member, besides giving status to the Commision. He
was also a regular attendant at meetings. He will be replaced for
the present by Mr. George R. Lewis, Secretary of the General
Services Department. Mr. Lewis thus far has manifested an
interest in our work and I see no problem in this new arrange-
ment. However, a reading of Chapter 97 will indicate to you that
many of the policy decisions formerly cared for by the Com-
mission are now allocated to the Secretary. At the next meeting
of the Commission, I am hopeful that Mr. Lewis will explain the
details of this new arrangement of State government.
