LLOYD LOWNDES, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Louis C. Schneidereith, Theodore L. Borst, Otto

Dubrau, Alexander Hoffmann, Henry Miller, Frederick Nol-
lenberger, Charles F. Joesting, Thomas Zehnter, Christian Ben-
erlein, Karl A. M. Scholtz, William C. Schilling, William
Becker, Ekkehardt Scholtz, Frederick H. Greaver, August Eck
and William Koetting, they constituting officers and board of
directors of the Turnverein Vorwaerts, together with their
associates admitted into membership in said association and
their successors, be and they are hereby constituted and con-
tinned a body corporate under the name of " The Turnverein
Vorwaerts of Baltimore," and under that name shall have per-
petual succession, be capable to sne and be sued, to make and
use a common seal, to adopt a constitution and make by-laws
for the regulation and management of all its affairs and not
inconsistent with law, and the same to change, alter and amend
from time to time ; to adopt rules and terms of admission into
membership ; and to do and perform all matters and things
required to carry into effect the objects of the association.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the objects of this corpo-

ration shall be educational, ethical and social ; having for their
purpose the physical, mental, moral and social improvement of
its members and scholars by the maintenance of educational
classes, lectures, a library and reading room, a gymnasium,
social meetings, and such other means as will promote the har-
monious development of body and mind.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall be

capable of taking and receiving by gift, devise, bequest or
otherwise, property, real, personal or mixed, and the same to
occupy, use, lease, sell, mortgage or otherwise dispose of, in any
manner not inconsistent with law.

erty now owned, or which may hereafter be acquired by the
said association, and also such sums received for the use of said
association from devises or bequests, gifts or otherwise, as the
permanent fund, shall be managed by a board of nine trustees,
one of whom shall be ex officio the president of the association,
and the remaining eight shall be members of the association ;
and that the following named persons and their successors in
office shall, until the next annual election, constitute the said
board of trustees : John F. Prechtel, Theodore L. Borst, August
Joesting, Louis Hoffmann, Karl A. M. Scholtz, August Eck,
Rudolph H. Lucke, George H. Laux and Louis C. Schnei-
derietb, ex-officio. At the next annual election there shall be
