ASHBIE W. HAWKINS.

Ex-President of National Association
for the Advancement of Colored People,
Baltimore Branch. Lawyer Hawkins is
a most fearless champion of justice.
He is a scholar, a writer and orator.
He figured conspicuously in the fight
against segregation in Baltimore and is
largely responsible for the final decision
handed down by the Supreme Court a
few months ago.
The Baltimore colored populace has
shown its appreciation of his unselfish
work by giving him two testimonial ban-
quets, and a beautiful testimonial Ma-
sonic ring.

MR. THOMAS R. SMITH,

Mr. Thomas R. Smith, of Baltimore,
is the proprietor of the largest colored
Hotel in the South. He is probably the
test known man of his race in this coun-
try. Mr. Smith is of a genial and char-
itable nature. His hospitality is known
to all denominations, and his friends
are legion.
