WILLIAM H. BISHOP.

Mr. William H. Bishop, for many years a clerk in the Internal
Revenue Department of this city and a descendant of one of the
most prominent families in Maryland, died at his home in Catons-
ville, February 11, 1918. He had been in failing health for the
past year.

With the death of Mr. Bishop, Maryland loses one of its author-
ities on the income tax. He had been a clerk in the Internal Rev-
enue office for 2.:, years, and was the head of the income tax di-
vision. He was one of the most competent and best informed
clerks in the service throughout the country. Not only did he
know the Saw, but the regulations as well, and for years had been
responsible for the more arduous work and accounts of the office,

and none rendered more efficient and faithful service

Mr. Bishop was at one time very prominent in the social life of
the city and he has a ways had a host of friends, both in and out
of the city, who will always remember his dignified, kindly manner

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Fannie S. Bishop's sister
Mrs. C. B. Tucker, and two brothers, Mr. John A. Bishop of Bal-
timore and the Rev. R. C. Bishop of New York
